Satin ribbon garland

This is a garland made from satin ribbon. I saw some tutorial on you-tube and attempted it and it came out well. I could have added some more embellishments, but I was in a hurry to complete it. Should improvise it in future.

And here is my model, showcasing it :-). I dressed him up as Lord Krishna..

Infant Krishna is said to be lying on a leaf. When Keshav was much younger, I made this leaf  from an old green saree and used golden threads for the veins.

Embroidered Kurti

I embroidered this Kurti for my dear friend.. I have been planning to do something for her for a very long time and finally, I made it.  I hope she likes it.

I ordered a kurti from flipkart and traced this design.

Tracing on black dress material has always been a problem. On dark materials, we have to use yellow carbon paper to trace the design. But, as we embroider one section, the carbon imprint on the other areas seems to vanish. And it becomes very difficult to trace the design again !

After a long search for the right materials for tracing, I ended up using a silver glitter pen :-) ..
After tracing with carbon paper, I draw over the design using this pen.  With my kid around, I take a lot of time to finish any project. So, its very important for me to ensure that the design stays put until I finish the whole embroidering.

I also made matching crochet earring for the kurti. I used the same DMC thread that I used for embroidering.

Another embroidered saree

Here is another saree that I embroidered. I liked the color of the saree, so I bought it. But it looked very plain. So I decided to embroider some flower design. To match the border color, I have used purple cone thread. Using this thread over normal DMC thread has 2 advantages .  It has a nice shine to it and the embroidery work will get over in no time since this thread is  thicker than DMC thread.

Peacock embroidery on Saree

I did this embroidery long back. It is almost 10 years old saree. Still it looks fresh.
I bought a plain saree and decided to embroider it.

I selected the designs and bought some purple sequins for the mango design.
To match the saree border, I decided to embroider the peacock in purple color.
